HR call, then 2x whiteboarding. Any point of contact at this company was of my ethnicity and that really felt like it was forced that way to "make things comfortable". Technical interview's interviewer seemed like some random SWE who happened to have that time block open, they used their phone while outside to conduct the interview and hastily hung up on me when "time was up" without asking me if I had any questions. Got ghosted afterwards.

Interview

I applied for a position, and was responded to by a recruiter that was nice and straight to the point. She provided me with interview prep before the next step, which was a technical screen with an engineer. Most likely did not pass the technical screen, and even if I did, I would drop my candidacy because the engineer that interviewed me was someone who I would work closely with on the same team. This engineer was very rude from the beginning, often scoffing, interrupting, and laughing if I gave a wrong response or was thinking out loud while solving. Any time I asked for clarification on the ambiguous problem, he continued to be rude, making it harder to even ask clarifying questions or focus on solving the medium problem. He also often also used improper technical terms to describe properties of the data structure making it more confusing what was being asked. I wouldn't have minded this so much if I felt comfortable asking for clarification, but he was not open to it at all. And anytime I tried to describe my thought process, I was interrupted every 5 seconds, until after 10 minutes of that, he clearly gave up and began to focus on other work (I would ask a clarifying question and he wouldn't even notice). I was just waiting for the time to be out so I can drop my candidacy. Easily the worst interview experience I've ever had.

Interview Questions

  • Building a data structure of intervals to allow for search of a number that was not present in any of the intervals in faster than linear time.

Interview

1. Applied online 2. Recruiter call to find fit 3. Phone screen with a technical question 4. On-site with 1 manager interview, 1 behavioral interview and 3 technical (1 algorithm, 1 general-purpose programming, 1 system design) The phone screen was a difficult-to-implement but not super difficult algorithm question with a little bit of trivia about data structures beforehand. The on-site technical questions were a system design question about building a feature quickly and what tooling you'd use, and then how you'd adjust as you scale. There was a more algorithm-heavy programming question as well as a more pragmatic one. I bombed the algo question but still got the offer based on performance in the other interviews.

Interview

- Recruiter call to talk about role expectations, work culture, compensation ranges, and timeline. Very thorough and responded very fast throughout the process. - 1hr technical coding screen done via online code editor - a normal leetcode medium-ish question that was framed in Reddit context - 4x1hr onsite - two coding portions (felt less like leetcode and more actual problem solving - massaging data, generating insights), one systems design, and one hiring manager interview. The recruiter briefed me on what to expect at each round, and the onsite was a virtual invite that listed each interviewer, their linkedin, and what to expect for each round. Gave me the opportunity to split it over two days, instead of a 4x1hr continuous interview, which I accepted. Overall nothing surprising nor overly difficult - interviewers were really cool people and you could actually bounce ideas and thoughts off them instead of being a brick wall. Really enjoyed the experience

Interview

Awful interview process, they reached out to me, passed HR phone screen, passed technical phone screen, after 30-minute hiring manager call, they decided experience wasn't a match when wasn't even asked much about experience. Wasting peoples time, don't contact people when you have all their experience listed in front of you then say experience isn't a match.

Applied to Software Engineer position. I had a chat with the Hiring Manager, it was the first round. He made questions about my background experience, behavioral and one technical question. Didn't hear back from them.

Interview

Pretty straight forward. Had a 30 minutes call with a recruiter and radio silence. Recruiters have the courtesy to inform the candidates about the interview results but never had one even after enquiring. It might even create a bad impression about the company.

Interview

I was contacted by a recruiter around a week after applying online. The recruiter asked me to schedule time on his calendar with a greenhouse link. I found time and scheduled it and also responded to the email indicating I had provided a time. Day of our call he was a no show and didn't respond to my email asking if we were still on for our call until 24 hours later. He asked that I just email him my availability so I told him the next 2 days would work. He didn't respond again so several days later I emailed him again and he responded much later that I should send availability again. He never responded on my last email or ever apologized for his unprofessionalism. Worst experience I've had with a recruiter and I just let it go there, I hope it's not indicative of the quality of the rest of Reddit.

Quick and responsive process. Had a series of interviews over two weeks. Everyone was kind and friendly. The post process was good too, the recruiter was great to offer feedback.

Interview

The position I was interviewing for got changed 3 times within this process, ended up being interviewed for a Staff Engineer (???) position with only 3YOE, not the position I applied for nor showed interest in. HR was very unorganized and didn't acknowledgement their mistake afterwards and just ghosted me. 1) 20 minute conversation with the "hiring manager" 2) Coding interview (30mins), general technical questions (20mins), general questions (10mins) 3) 4hr on-site: 1hr system design, 2hr coding, 1hr behavioural. Had the position I was interviewing for changed after my 3rd interview before the hiring manager... Had my final behavioural interview with the actual hiring manager, where he said they were looking to hire for a staff engineer. Waste of both of our time. Got an automated rejection email signed with a "Sincerely, " with no name. Pretty disrespectful of my time which is unfortunate for what seemed to be such a great company.
